Cameron Highlands Trip (03 - 04 June 2015)

As salam... been a long time since I've been blogging and sharing edited pictures for self keeping, encouraged by my beloved family and colleagues.

My first entry is on our 1st roadtrip to Cameron Highlands, back in June 2015. It was a short two day trip, so I had to plan it out well, and cramp as much visiting places as possible. Luckily we traveled as a couple, so we were ahead of our schedules, covered as much places as planned, and still were able to enjoy priceless moments in those places visited.

The preparation to this famous highland in Pahang began 2 weeks before the departure. We prepared by means of :

- reading others' blogs about the place
- mapping out locations of places of interest, especially the trip was during school holiday, careful enough to avoid traffic jams at some locations

- reviewing comments and recommendations of previous visitors on Trip Advisor, especially on hotel booking
- budgeting our RM...

THE DEPARTURE

My husband and I departed Penang around 05:30am and performed our Subuh (dawn) prayer at Hentian Taiping on the highway. Road was as clear as ice.

We safely arrived at Simpang Pulai toll exit around 08:30am, and refilled our petrol at Simpang Pulai Petronas station. During the drive, we were welcomed by this breath taking sunrise, Subhanallah...

After 30 mins of driving uphill the winding road, (which made me nauseous), we saw this sign on our left. You know you're in the right direction when you see it!

Once we reached a T junction, we made a right turn towards Cameron Highlands (as straight is towards Gua Musang, Kelantan). The few early landmarks we came across were Green View Garden and Avant Chocolate Factory (which were about to open - but we decided to drop by here next time).

TIPS & TRICKS:

!!! Avoid school holiday and peak seasons, if possible. All places will be packed with crowds, tour buses, school children. Some hotels pricing may be 50% extra.

!!! To reach Simpang Pulai before 09:00am, so to avoid entering the traffic congestion surrounding Kea Farm and Brinchang area which could start as early as 12 noon on Friday, weekends, on school or public holidays.

!!! Please ensure there's enough petrol in your car tank prior to driving up Cameron Highlands, as there are not many petrol stations on the way, until you reach Brinchang town.

!!! Make sure to bring Vicks Rub, anti-nausea medication (ubat muntah), minyak cap kapak, or peel orange skin and smell it to avoid getting nausea and vomitting during the driving along Cameron's curvy road.
